What is Bijrani Zone? Bijrani Zone is a tourism zone in Corbett Tiger Reserve, accessed through Amdanda Gate near Ramnagar, Uttarakhand. Its Sal forest and open grasslands make Bijrani a popular choice for a guided jeep safari, with one of the park's higher tiger-sighting probabilities after Dhikala. Choose a morning or afternoon Bijrani safari shift, or ask about a separate forest rest house stay. Wildlife sightings depend on conditions and animal movement.

Bijrani Jungle Safari in Jim Corbett: What to Expect
A Bijrani jeep safari takes you through a changing forest landscape: shaded Sal woodland, grassy clearings ("chaurs") and waterways. The interest is in watching the habitat as well as looking for animals. Ask your guide about tracks, alarm calls and the relationship between grassland and forest wildlife.

A Bijrani zone Corbett tiger safari is the main draw for most visitors — Bijrani Zone is regularly ranked among Corbett's better zones for a tiger sighting after Dhikala — but a safari is not a tiger show. Corbett also supports elephants, deer, leopards and varied birdlife. No zone, shift or package can promise a particular sighting. Bring binoculars and allow time to enjoy smaller discoveries instead of judging the whole visit by one animal.
Bijrani suits travellers who want a day safari from a Ramnagar-area base. For families, consider the early start, open vehicle, weather and bumpy tracks when choosing your shift. Tell your organiser about mobility needs before paying.
Wildlife You Can Spot on a Bijrani Zone Safari
Bijrani's mix of Sal forest, open grassland and water channels supports a wide range of species. Sightings are never guaranteed, but this is the wildlife most frequently reported by visitors and guides in this zone:
- Bengal tiger — Bijrani's terrain and prey base give it one of the better tiger-sighting records in Jim Corbett National Park.
- Leopard — more elusive than the tiger, usually spotted near forest edges and rocky patches.
- Asian elephant — often seen in herds near grassland and water sources.
- Sloth bear — an occasional sighting, more likely early morning or late afternoon.
- Deer & antelope — chital (spotted deer), sambar and hog deer graze the open chaurs.
- Birdlife — Bijrani is popular with birders for its resident and migratory species around the grassland and streams.
Bijrani Jeep Safari Price: Permit, Vehicle and Guide
The forest permit and the complete safari package are different costs. The official pricing page listed the following Bijrani components when checked on 12 September 2026:
| Component | Indian category | Foreigner category |
|---|---|---|
| Permit | ₹3,380 | ₹6,680 |
| Vehicle | ₹2,700 | ₹2,700 |
| Guide | ₹1,000 | ₹1,000 |
| Calculated component subtotal | ₹7,080 | ₹10,380 |

What changes the total package price?
Your travel date, group composition, number of safaris, hotel category, room sharing, meal plan and pickup location determine the final quote. Ask for permit, vehicle, guide, accommodation, transfers, service charges and applicable taxes to be itemised. A hotel package quoted per person should also state the minimum group size and room-sharing basis.
Comparing quotes? Check that each quote names Bijrani, the same number of safari shifts and the same pickup point. A cheaper offer for a different zone or fewer inclusions is a different trip.

For visitors who want more time in the forest and a less rushed stay.
Request: two hotel nights, a Bijrani safari and another available zone, such as Jhirna or Dhela. Each safari needs its own confirmation.
Plan a two-night tripSample 1-Night, 2-Day Bijrani Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Ramnagar, travel to your chosen hotel and check in according to the hotel’s policy. Keep the afternoon flexible, confirm the next day’s pickup and prepare the identification used for your booking.
Day 2: Meet your safari vehicle at the agreed point and travel to Amdanda Gate for your booked morning shift. After the safari, return for breakfast if included and compatible with hotel service times, then check out and depart.
If you prefer an afternoon safari on Day 1, arrange an early enough arrival and request that shift before finalising the trip. Avoid a tight train-to-gate connection.
Bijrani Safari Timings, Opening Season and Best Time to Visit
The official zone table lists Bijrani day visits from 15 October to 30 June. Opening dates and access remain subject to park notices and conditions. A forest rest house booking has a separate calendar; do not assume the day-visit season also applies to overnight stays.
Green = typical open season, amber = open but hot/dry, red = usually closed for monsoon. *Bijrani opens mid-to-late October and closes by end June, per the official schedule — always check the current-year notice before booking.
Cooler months (Nov–Mar)
Widely considered the best time to visit Bijrani Zone: clear skies, thinner foliage for visibility and animals drawn to waterholes. Pack layers for an early morning departure and check the forecast before leaving.
Warmer months (Apr–Jun)
Plan for heat, sun and dust in an open jeep. Carry permitted drinking water and protect your camera. Do not select a month on the promise of a guaranteed tiger.
Monsoon planning (Jul–mid Oct)
Bijrani is seasonal and typically closed in this window. If it is closed for your dates, check which other zones, such as Jhirna, are operating before booking your hotel around a safari.
Morning or afternoon Bijrani safari?
Choose between the available shifts based on your arrival, hotel location and preference for an early start. Exact reporting, entry and exit times must come from your dated permit and current instructions. Pickup is earlier than gate entry; ask for both times in writing.
Amdanda Gate: How to Reach Bijrani Zone, Jim Corbett
Amdanda is the entry gate for the Bijrani safari. It sits close to Ramnagar town; after entering the gate you cross a buffer stretch before the core safari zone begins. Use Ramnagar as your arrival base, then arrange the transfer to the agreed meeting point. Ramnagar town, the railway station, your resort and the forest gate are different locations, so a single "distance from Ramnagar" figure may not describe your journey.
| Mode | Route / connection | Approx. distance or time |
|---|---|---|
| By road | Delhi → Noida → Kashipur → Ramnagar | ~7–8 hours drive |
| By train | Ramnagar railway station connects to Delhi, Haridwar, Varanasi and Lucknow | Ramnagar is the nearest station |
| By bus | Regular buses from Delhi, Haridwar and Dehradun to Ramnagar | Varies by origin city |
| By air | Pantnagar Airport, with a daily Delhi connection | ~80 km from Ramnagar |
| Ramnagar → Amdanda Gate | Local transfer to the Bijrani entry point | ~2 km |
Share your hotel name or arrival location when requesting a quote. Ask whether pickup is included, how much transfer time to allow and where you should meet the driver. If travelling from Delhi or another city, build in a buffer for road or rail delays.
How to Complete Your Bijrani Zone Safari Booking
- Share your requirements. Give your date, preferred shift, traveller count, children’s ages, nationality and pickup location. Mention whether you need a hotel.
- Check Bijrani availability. Ask for this zone by name. If another zone is offered, review that change before accepting it.
- Review the itemised quote. Confirm inclusions, exclusions, payment terms and cancellation conditions for permits and other services separately.
- Provide the required booking details. Enter visitor information carefully and use the identification requested by the booking process.
- Check the issued confirmation. Verify the zone, travel date, shift, passenger details and meeting instructions. An enquiry alone is not a confirmed permit.
Corbett Package Tour can assist with safari and stay arrangements. Forest permits and park access are controlled by the reserve administration. Travellers can also consult the official reservation website directly.
Jeep occupancy and children
The official pricing page states a maximum of six visitors and includes a child-specific condition. Share every child’s age and confirm your exact group eligibility before payment; do not assume a free extra seat beyond the permit limit. Check current admission criteria.
What to carry and remember
- Carry the identification matching your permit, plus your booking confirmation.
- Choose comfortable clothing in muted colours, secure footwear and weather-appropriate layers.
- Keep binoculars and camera equipment easy to reach without obstructing other passengers.
- Follow your guide’s instructions, keep noise low, do not feed wildlife and take litter back with you.
Bijrani vs Jhirna vs Dhikala: Which Jim Corbett Safari Zone Fits Your Trip?
Bijrani Zone is only one of several safari zones inside Jim Corbett National Park. Here is how it compares with two other popular options:

Bijrani Zone
Seasonal jeep safari (15 Oct–30 Jun) through Sal forest and grassland via Amdanda Gate. One of Corbett's stronger zones for a tiger sighting.

Jhirna Zone
A day-jeep option worth checking when planning outside Bijrani's season — known for wild boar, deer and occasional leopard sightings. See Jhirna Zone details.

Dhikala Zone
The park's core zone: a canter excursion or a separately booked forest-rest-house stay, not an ordinary Bijrani-style day-jeep permit. See Canter Safari (Dhikala) details.
Choose by travel dates, trip format and confirmed availability. A zone comparison cannot reliably tell you where a tiger will appear on your safari. Also planning a family-friendly first safari or a monsoon-season trip? See Dhela Zone or Durga Devi Zone for bird-watching.
Bijrani Forest Rest House or a Resort Near Ramnagar?
Bijrani and Malani are the forest rest houses listed for this zone. Request a specific lodge and check room availability, access dates, meals and safari arrangements. An overnight stay inside the reserve requires its own confirmed booking. See our Corbett FRH booking guide for the full process.
A private hotel or resort outside the park offers a different trip format. Compare room facilities, meal plans and the actual transfer to Amdanda Gate. For a family package, ask about room sharing, extra beds and checkout timing before choosing the lowest headline price. Browse hotels in Ramnagar for options outside the park.

Bijrani Safari Booking FAQs
Which gate is used for Bijrani safari?
Bijrani safaris enter through Amdanda Gate near Ramnagar. Confirm your meeting point separately, because hotel pickup and gate reporting are not the same.
What does a Bijrani jungle safari package include?
Ask for the permit, jeep and guide in the safari quote. A stay package may also include a hotel, meals and transfers, but only the services named in your written confirmation should be treated as included.
Is the safari price per person or per jeep?
Check the quote’s charging basis. A private-jeep quote covers the stated group and inclusions, while hotel packages may be priced per person on a room-sharing basis. Compare the full payable total, not just the headline amount.
Can I book Bijrani safari without a hotel?
You can request a safari-only arrangement and organise accommodation separately. Give your pickup location and confirm whether any transfer charge applies.
Does a Bijrani permit guarantee a tiger sighting?
No. A permit provides access to the booked safari, not a wildlife guarantee. Animal movement and conditions vary, even between consecutive shifts.
Can I book a last-minute Bijrani safari?
You can ask about remaining availability, but do not assume a slot will be available on arrival. Confirm the permit before making plans that depend on visiting this zone.
Is elephant safari included in a Bijrani jeep package?
No elephant ride is included in the suggested jeep packages on this page. Do not rely on older listings that advertise one; verify any separate activity with the reserve’s current instructions.
What if Bijrani is unavailable or the park closes?
Ask about an alternative date, shift or zone before accepting a revised trip. Check the applicable permit and operator cancellation terms; do not assume that a change, refund or substitute safari is automatic.
How far is Bijrani Zone from Delhi?
Ramnagar, the base town for Bijrani Zone, is roughly a 7–8 hour drive from Delhi via Noida and Kashipur. Regular trains and buses also connect Delhi to Ramnagar; Pantnagar, about 80 km away, is the nearest airport.
Is Bijrani or Jhirna better for a tiger sighting?
Bijrani is generally considered one of Corbett's stronger zones for a tiger sighting, second mainly to Dhikala, because of its grassland-and-forest terrain. Jhirna stays open through the monsoon when Bijrani is closed, so the "better" choice often comes down to your travel dates rather than sighting odds alone.
How many jeeps are allowed in Bijrani Zone per shift?
The zone typically permits around 30 safari jeeps per shift, each carrying up to six adults plus an eligible child, along with the driver and a mandatory naturalist guide. Confirm the current limit on your dated permit.
How far in advance should I book a Bijrani safari?
Morning Bijrani permits are commonly booked well in advance, since availability tightens in peak season (November–March). Evening slots can sometimes be arranged closer to your date, but this is not guaranteed — share your dates with us as early as possible.
