About the zone

Why Choose a Bijrani Zone Safari in Jim Corbett

Bijrani is the zone most first-time visitors book, and for good reason. It is close to Ramnagar, it allows day jeep safaris, and it mixes dense sal forest with open grasslands where wildlife is easier to spot. The Corbett Tiger Reserve describes it as one of the most tiger-rich areas of the park.

  • Grasslands (chaurs) – Machaan Chaur, Badhai Chaur and Ringora Chaur open up the forest
  • Tigers – among the best day-zone chances in Corbett; never guaranteed
  • Other wildlife – elephant herds, sloth bear, chital, sambar, hog deer, barking deer and nilgai
  • Birds – rich birdlife popular with birdwatchers; see birdwatching in Jim Corbett
  • Easy access – Amdanda gate is minutes from Ramnagar and our base in Dhikuli

How do I book a Bijrani zone safari?

Bijrani or Dhikala: which is better?
Bijrani is easier for a day trip: it is close to Ramnagar, opens earlier in the season and allows day jeep safaris. Dhikala has larger grasslands but needs a canter seat or a Forest Rest House stay. Many visitors combine a Bijrani jeep safari with a Dhikala canter.
